In-Person workshops provide an immersive experience into the Feldenkrais method and are a great way to expand your weekly practice. Various workshops are offered throughout the year with Jeffrey, his colleague Krista Langberg, and other Feldenkrais practitioners.

THE BODY PATTERN OF ANXIETY

When we are in a state of fear, our capacity to act becomes greatly diminished. Feldenkrais asserts that “anxiety appears when deep in ourselves we know that we have no other choice;” our deep unconditioned and conditioned reflexes provide us with protective, but limited possibilities of response. By moving ourselves with intention and being in a continuous and kind process of knowing ourselves more deeply, we can change our self-organization to more clearly meet the dynamic world around us. In this workshop, we focus on tapping into our creative potential to imagine and enact alternative ways of moving with the world. As Feldenkrais says “you are as good as you wish; you are certainly more creative at imagining alternatives then you know.”

The shoulder girdle is a fascinating structure. It is meant to float on the ribcage, connected to the rest of your skeleton only by way of the sternum. In this workshop we will move in ways to encourage the release of unnecessary tension and limiting muscular habits. And, as with all Awareness-through-movement lessons, as these patterns begin to soften and change, so might you. The potential for a new freedom of movement and postural ease can then emerge.
